January 21, 2012 Second Baptist Church 4680 Walnut Grove Road
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
$20 per session or both for $35
We will be ringing
in the New Year with our 11th (can you believe it?) Annual January Dulcimer
Gathering. This event began in 2002 and was the precursor to our Memphis Dulcimer & Folk Gathering. The
2012 Gathering will be held on January 21 at Second Baptist Church,
4680 Walnut Grove Road. This event is specifically designed for
new and beginning players of both mountain and hammered dulcimer. I will be leading the mountain dulcimer class, and Betty
Dawson will lead the hammered dulcimer class.
The January Dulcimer Gathering is a great time for those who
get a dulcimer for Christmas, for those who have been hiding an unused dulcimer in the closet or under the bed, or for those
who may have lapsed in their playing and are ready for a recharge. There will also be instruments for students to borrow who
are interested in trying out the instrument before purchasing or who may just want to spend the day on a new adventure. Please
let us know if you want to borrow an instrument so that we can be prepared.
Cost is $20 per session or $35 for both.
You may pay at the door. If you know in advance that you are coming, please let me know so that we can prepare for copies
of class materials. If you decide on Saturday morning to come, you will be welcome.
